Who am I? Well, I’ll let you in on a few basics!
I moved around a lot as a child. I lived in Africa – Vancouver Island, BC – Yorkton, SK – Lacombe, AB – the Peace River area, AB & BC – and many other places. The family joke was that we never lived in one house for more then two years.
My parents were teachers and, since I seemed to be able to deal with children, I followed in their footsteps. I received my B.Ed. degree from Canadian University College (now known as Burman University) and began teaching in Penticton, BC in 1994.
During summer holidays I worked towards my Masters of Arts (in Curriculum and Instruction), which I received in 2000.
My teaching career was mainly spent in junior high classrooms, since once people know you can handle that age group they never want to let you out!
I tied the knot with my best friend, Darcy Allen, in 1996, and after many interesting job changes and moves he completed his education and received his D.M.D. Then, for reasons that are strange and too complicated to describe, I became a receptionist, accounting clerk, and insurance “expert”.
In 2008 we added a little girl to our lives, and although I still have work to do, I’ve been able to play, play, play ever since.
I like to say that I’m retired, because that leaves people guessing!
